Our class has so much news that today we set up our very own newsroom. Tom and Darragh were the anchors. News ranged from Brexit to stolen doughnuts!
Finn brought in one of his paintings to show the class. It was amazing and had lots of details like birds, mountains and flowers. Thanks for sharing it Finn - we look forward to seeing more of your work!
Today both 3rd classes went on a walk to look at where the old railway was. We learned some interesting facts and had a lovely walk in the sunshine!
As end of year treat for being such an amazing class we had some fun in the garden blowing bubbles!
Last week we did some team-building exercises in the halla. The children were divided into 3 groups and each group had to create a free-standing structure using hula hoops. The winning structure fell apart in about 3 seconds but they showed fantastic teamwork and communication skills - well done! As a reward they got to play chess on Thursday morning.
We are very lucky to have Colm visiting to teach gymnastics across the school. Lots of the children know him from gymnastics lessons in Carrigaline. We can't wait for our next lesson this week!
July 20th will be the 50th Anniversary of the moon landings. To celebrate we are learning all about the moon. Today we learned about the phases of the moon. Yesterday we discussed what we would keep or leave behind if we had crash landed on the moon - there were some hard choices! Today we also experimented with materials to make rockets, space shelters and space suits.
Today Denis and Margaret, judges in the Cork Primary School Garden Competition, visited CETNS. Tom, Zion, Katie and Evie joined some children from 6th class to show them around. The garden looked great in the sunshine! Regardless of how we do in the competition we have a lovely garden for everyone to be proud of!
Active Week is very packed this year. We've had the penalty shoot out, obstacle course, a dodge ball tournament and of course Frank Fun Day! Cormac has been as busy as ever putting together some great clips of all the action - thanks Cormac!
Some of our class have siblings in Junior and Senior Infants - can you spot them having fun on Frank Fun Day??!!!!
We are 3rd class A (rang 3A). My name is Catherine and I am delighted to be teaching this class! The children will update the blog regularly to keep you all up-to-date with the exciting things they will be doing this year.
