Active Week is very packed this year. We've had the penalty shoot out, obstacle course, a dodge ball tournament and of course Frank Fun Day! Cormac has been as busy as ever putting together some great clips of all the action - thanks Cormac!
Some of our class have siblings in Junior and Senior Infants - can you spot them having fun on Frank Fun Day??!!!!
Cormac from the Lifetime Lab visited us on Tuesday morning. He was fantastic and spoke to us about how long waste takes to break down and what we can do to help conserve our marine environment. He spent lots of time looking at everyone's projects and said he had never seen such interesting topics! We all learned a lot from his visit and before he left we all got certificates to show we had completed the Marine Explorer Workshop.
Below is a video we watched that shows just how much waste an average person produces and what it would be like if we had to wear all the waste!
Tomorrow Kieran Crowley will visit our class as part of the Writers in Schools Programme run by Poetry Ireland. Kieran has written a number of books for children including Mighty Dynamo and The Misfits Club. He will chat about how he became a writer, give tips on writing and answer any questions the children have. We have amazing writers in our class and this will be a fantastic opportunity to learn from a published author.
Yesterday we planted an apple tree with Betty and Tony from Carrigaline Tidy Towns. Planting trees is a great way to support the environment. Our tree is planted across the road from the school and will hopefully grow to give us beautiful apples in a couple of years. Everyone had a chance to get their hands dirty it was lots of fun!
We have a very special activity planned for Tuesday - watch this space!
Congratulations to Katie and Grace who were winners in the Carrigaline Tidy Towns poster competition. They attended an awards ceremony in Carrigaline Court Hotel where they got medals and saw their posters displayed. Everyone in 3A is so proud of the girls!!!!
We are 3rd class A (rang 3A). My name is Catherine and I am delighted to be teaching this class! The children will update the blog regularly to keep you all up-to-date with the exciting things they will be doing this year.
