We are investigating the life cycle of frogs. We have frogspawn in class - teachers have permission to collect spawn for educational purposes, it will be returned to the stream it came from in a couple of weeks. It will be very interesting to track the development of the spawn!
The concert was fantastic!! We are all so proud of 3A and all the other children who performed on the day. We had to delay the start as someone was late so we sang the school song which showed such great teamwork!! Well done everyone!
We have been learning all about climate change. We watched the inspirational Greta Thunberg TED talk. We have made posters for the Carrigaline Tidy Towns art competition based on climate change. Next week we will examine how long it takes for various things to break down. How long do you think it takes an apple to breakdown????
7th of February was Harry Potter Night across the world. As much as we all love school, we didn't really want to spend the night there so we had Harry Potter Day instead! There were some fabulous costumes and lots of chat about H.P. We had a math challenge based on H.P. and a trivia quiz. Well done to The Golden Snitch team who won the quiz. Special mention has to be given to Tom, Storm, Wictoria, Katie and Anabelle who very kindly shared there vast knowledge of all things Harry Potter with the class!
Friday was World Read Aloud Day. To celebrate it we invited a couple of visitors to read aloud for the class. Shayne and Kuba from 6th class were excellent readers and Anabelle and Evie looked very proud! Sam and Evie went to Senior Infants B and read We're Going on a Beat Hunt - the children loved it so much they asked for another story so they read The Gruffalo's Child. We hope to have more visitors read aloud in class and to go to other classes to read for them.
We are 3rd class A (rang 3A). My name is Catherine and I am delighted to be teaching this class! The children will update the blog regularly to keep you all up-to-date with the exciting things they will be doing this year.
