The CETNS debate team will be competing next week in the 2nd Round of the Cork Primary School Debating Competition. To help the team research for the debate, 3A have been holding our own debates using their motion 'Cars should be gotten rid of'. The quality of the research, presentation and enthusiasm on show has been amazing and we are all really enjoying the debates. I'm certain we have future debate team members in 3A! The winning team will get to be in the audience to watch the CETNS team in action next Friday.
Over the break we had lots of fun completing the Hot Chocolate Reading Challenge! Today we had our hot chocolate reward complete with background cafe jazz music and plenty of book talk. There will be another exciting reading event coming soon...
The class voted to adopt Roma! It was very close between Roma and Mary who are also the best of friends (a bonded pair in the animal world). There were lots of great reasons to adopt many of the donkeys but Roma won over the most people with her sparkling personality and cuteness! We look forward to learning more about Roma over the next year. If you visit the Donkey Sanctuary keep an eye out for her!
Today we looked at the amazing work of the Donkey Sanctuary. They rescue and care for neglected and injured donkeys from all over Ireland. They are based in Liscarrol in North Cork (about an hours drive away) and is free to visit. Our class is such a nature-loving and caring class that we are going to 'adopt a donkey'. The children are all writing about which donkey they would like the class to adopt. We will post the results tomorrow! For more information on the sanctuary visit their website on
